Fine Needle Aspiration Microscopes

Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), is an investigative procedure used to determine abnormal appearing tissue (mass) or fluid in the body. A thin hollow needle is inserted into the mass or body fluid to gather the sampling of cells which is then stained and viewed under a microscope.

Fine needle aspiration microscopes allow cytopathologists to accurately diagnose diseases. Cell samples are stained and examined under a microscope to at least 400x magnification. The high resolution of a microscope makes cells, tissues, or fluids easier to examine in order to determine whether lumps or masses are cancerous or benign.

Fine Needle Aspiration microscopes (FNA) are recommended to be outfitted with 4x, 10x, 40x, and 60x objectives. For the purpose of FNA, a 60x objective is most critical.
