This is a rare full sized Culpeper-Type Microscope, 1806 - 1820 handcrafted by skilled English craftsman. Beautifully mounted with a plaque on the drawer of the mahogany case. The focus mechanism operates smoothly and optically yields a very good image. In excellent condition with the patina that one would expect from a 200 year plus all brass fine piece of medical equipment that resembles an art sculpture....All original parts and accessories including pyramidal mahogany case measuring 6" square at base (small piece of wood missing in the rear)....extra objectives, round glass filters, ivory prepared slide with what appears to be insect parts/wings, ivory poker, test tube and to many accessories to mention or know exactly what they are...please view pictures in detail.....the microscope mounted on base stands approx. 17" tall. This full sized Culpeper-Type Microscope is proudly displayed in a doctor's office or fine home....Similar microscopes are exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute.
