Level 1 gowns offer protection for minimal risk situations. Ideal for basic care, visitor wear, or in a standard medical unit where sterilization is not required, these gowns provide a slight barrier against low levels of fluid. Staff and visitors experiencing brief exposure to risk may prefer the breathability of polypropylene (PP) or SMS gowns. Those requiring additional barriers against splatter can employ the added protection of polyethylene (PE) gowns and coatings (PP+PE).
